Batch Marketing Content for 30 days

Yes, you really can create marketing content for more than a day or week at a time, it just takes a bit of planning and you are flying. Content batching for your marketing communications is one of the most effective ways to save you time, remain consistent with your messages and reduce overwhelm.

The great news is, it is not just for social media, content batching works well for all your marketing including PR, blogs, emails and website.

How it’s done

The most important thing to do is to work within your existing business and marketing goals. What is it that you are trying to achieve? For example;

  1. Raise your brand awareness
  2. To generate more high-quality leads
  3. Product/service launch
  4. Increase customer value
  5. Establishing thought leadership

Whatever your goals, ensure that they are at the heart of your content planning because these will help you to generate ideas.

Identify content topics

Otherwise known as content pillars, these topics are what you will be focussing on for the next 30 days. They could be your key brand messaging such as sustainability, local business supporting the community, easy marketing for small business owners! Other ideas are – benefits of your product/service, your why, about us, top tips and inspiration.

Choose 3-7 content topics to focus on – we tend to focus on 7 to get the most content ideas.

Look around you for content, you might already have articles you have written that can be updated or posters on the wall that resonate with your brand, use your website – there is so much content on there that you can expand on for writing a blog or take snippets from it for a social post that links back to the web page.

What about photos?

Photo’s for social media content can be a sticking point for many people – especially for the more visual social platforms like Instagram. To make this easier decide on 7 photo topics that you can use alongside your content topics. Think about things that are important to you or that you do on a regular basis. Here are some ideas:

  • Exercise
  • Dog walking
  • Visiting clients/meetings
  • Drinking tea/coffee
  • Food
  • Family
  • Office set up

Putting the two together

You can cross reference the photos and content with each other – your inspiration for what you do could be your family or you might be inspired by what you see when you go for a walk. The first thing you do in the morning might be to have a cup of tea or you enjoy getting out into the local community supporting local cafes by enjoying a decent cup of coffee whilst working on your next project.

If you have 7 photos and 7 topics this will give you at least 30 days’ worth of content but if you are on a roll, fill it all up and get 49 days!

Once you have built your content plan of ideas decide what you will use where and create a spreadsheet calendar for the month that includes blogs, emails, PR, social media content, reels and stories. Plan your ideas into these categories.

What to work on first?

We believe that it is best to work on what is called long-form content – blogs, news, articles, emails and website pages first. This way, you can take snippets of content from those and use them across social media linking back to the more detailed content.

It is all about making your life easier, this might sound like more work but once you get the hang of it, you will become more consistent, save time and feel less stressed about your marketing communications. This also enables teams to work together, if everyone can all see the content plan others can contribute to delivering or you can delegate – especially good if someone is better at creating videos or reels.
